There is nothing more irritating than a background process which slows down your computer because it makes use of too much memory. Trying to shut it down manually will take some time and it may distract you from more important tasks. With Kiwi Application Monitor, you can focus on your work. The software will monitor any selected application or process and it will automatically perform various actions, according to a set of rules you can establish.

The software is available in free and pro versions. It comes in a small installation package and you can run it after going through a few basic setup steps. Its compatibility includes most Windows versions and the system requirements are low.

You will find a list on the left side of the program's interface. Applications or services must be added to this list to monitor them. You can specify what application to monitor and set a series of rules, on a separate window, after clicking the Add button on the toolbar. The application's .exe file must be typed into a small dialog box, on the upper area of this new window or you can simply browse for the file. The lower area of this window consists mainly of check boxes. By clicking them, you will be able to set the program to alert you when the monitored application starts, ends or exceeds a certain memory load or running time.

You can also select a series of actions, on the same window. Kiwi Application Monitor can automatically shut down a running application when it exceeds a given memory load, running time and more. The software can also execute another application when the monitored one is launched or closed. You only need to tick one of these options and browse for an .exe file. Advanced rules can be set up on this window, under a separate tab. This involves moving preset commands from one list to another or loading them from a file. It is also possible to change certain parameters from any preset in a very simple manner.

Running processes can be selected (to be monitored) in the same field as the applications. Instead of the Browse option, you must click the Process explorer option, found in the same area. This will bring up a new window, with a list of running processes, similar to the Windows Task Manager. Just select a process, click the Add button, beneath the list and the process will be targeted.

When you are satisfied with your rules, you may click the Add button, in the lower left corner of the window. A new item will be placed in the list, on the software's main interface. You can minimize it to the system tray and when you open or close a monitored application, your rules will take effect.

Pros

The software makes it easy to select any application or process and monitor it. Various rules can be set with the aid of check boxes and if a monitored application meets them, the software will react immediately, according to your settings.

Cons

Some of the free version's functions are restricted. Kiwi Application Monitor gives you complete control over any application or running process. With its simple functions, you can decide when and how a program is allowed to run.
